Faith is Tough

The interesting thing about faith is that it is one of the areas in Christianity that we know that we cannot manifest or control. So when you are not “growing” at the rate that you think you should be, you cannot increase how much faith you have in God.

The realization that I came to today was all the other aspects that I try to control I shouldn’t. I should relinquish control and find comfort in my Savior’s control. Honestly though I’m not sure what that looks like, how that plays out. What does it look like to relinquish the controls in your life? What does it look like to rely on God for everything?

Hmmmm. I like this post, but we can't just unmoor ourselves and drift to heaven. ( I don't think that is what you are saying here.) Granted, faith is God's work in us, but it also should bring us to the place that we get active as well. If I get passive, it gets dangerous. We need to pick up the oars, put up the sail and head for home.

I agree. "…faith without works is dead." James 2:20. I guess, I just realized after discussing it with a friend that I want a faith/religion that I control. In most likely hood you could even say a god that I can control. Luckily that isn't my God and he has given me faith to frustrate the control freak side of me.

I think relying on God for everything is a frightening thought for most people! This is when our comfort level truly becomes a curse, when we can't bear the thought of what luxuries we might need to give up for our Lord. Just heard a great sermon on "packing light" for the journey. There is a lot of baggage that we carry that prevents us from living as we know we should live.
