Visiting

This weekend I had the honor of attending my friends’ church for their son’s baptism.  It was a wonderful experience.  I was reminded of how good it is to be shaken up and get a change of pace every once in a while.  I am a member of a medium sized Baptist church and this was a pretty small Episcopal congregation.  While we were worshiping the same risen Savior, we were doing it in a very different way than I am used to!  The service was a lot more formal and less emotional than in my regular church.  But I have to say I really loved it.  I felt that there was a real focus on worship and a sense of adoration of the Lord. Confessions of a Blogger

My name is Travis, and I am a blogger. I started on Livejournal in the early ’00s, but back then I didn’t really consider it real blogging. It was just a place to post my angst-ridden thoughts publicly. It wasn’t until two years ago that I decided to get a “real blog,” so I deleted my Livejournal and moved to Blogger. Originally I wanted a place to post devotions, and share my experiences with faith and life. Then after joining 20something Bloggers I started doing more personal anecdotes. Then I started doing more politically commentary, and that’s when things started going downhill. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with political blogs. I’m a big fan of The Huffington Post, Rod Dreher, and...

Shortly, Blood Diamond really put me into a tailspin on how God could be both a good loving God and yet soveriegn.  These two elements don’t bother us in the US that much because we aren’t being mindlessly slaughtered with our families being raped / killed like in some parts of Africa.  By the grace of God, I was able to get through this struggle with no little help from CS Lewis and his book Problem of Pain which had the added bonus of having...
