I found this reply absolutely amazing. I guess I can see some of his point in that I don’t think that we as humans can truly define and understand all the attributes of an infinite God, but I couldn’t help but laugh when he said that our attempts to define him limit him. I thought “Wow so I guess if someone defines me as a man then that limits me to only being a man I can never be anything more”.
It was interesting to listen him talk about “For you to define God to give him these simple qualities is to actually limit God” and “Any image of God is a limitation” and then go into how the universe is infinite and we cannot imagine it. The universe would be my example of why we can talk about and define attributes about something infinite like God. As far as we know the the universe has no end it is in fact infinite, but to say that we cannot define any of its attributes or express anything about it in words is foolishness.
We can say with certainty that if we leave the earth’s atmosphere there is no oxygen in space and if Deepak says we cant that (or define the universe or imagine that that fact is true because it is being applied to something infinite) then I invite him to test the theory.

In convenient convergence of circumstance, we attended a memorial service on Sunday, at a Unitarian Universalist, um, facility. The inner conflict between (A.)the urge to stand up, proclaim the Truth, and walk out, dragging as many others out as possible, and (B.)the desire to not create a family situation that would be detrimental, is still wearing hard on my mind and spirit.
What perplexes me the most is that those who carry such beliefs, that all religions can be right, that God is too big for any one religion, that everyone will go to something that could be called “Heaven”, seek to appear, or at least are portrayed by some, to have access to some greater wisdom.
But, seriously? If the sky is blue, why would you say that blue is not something that can be grasped, that we don’t know what blue really is, so how can we apply such a label? That we don’t know how many skies there may be, so how can we be so specific as to say that blue is *the* color of *the* sky?
Is it the Spirit, and the change that God has made in us, that makes the division between Truth and everything else so blatant? Perhaps that is why we can’t comprehend the throngs who pursue these cults of personality, the followers of O and the prophets thereof.

I think it is that and the fact that we are open and realistic when it comes to how easily we can deceive ourselves. Because we know we can deceive ourselves we listen when a christian brother says “Hey man your thinking is wonky on this.” I also think pride would hold you back from hearing this and DEEPAK IS NEVER WRONG.
Proverbs 18
1He who separates himself seeks his own desire,
He (A)quarrels against all sound wisdom.
2A fool does not delight in understanding,
But only (B)in revealing his own mind.
