Pointing towards Home – Thought 1

So as I have previously blogged about several times, one of the biggest spiritual themes in my life is heaven. Other than the person of Christ, there isn’t another theme which gets me excited not only about what’s to come, but also talking to others about the Gospel. So given that, I going to structure some of my upcoming posts around my thoughts / hopes about heaven, and am naming them “Pointing towards Home”. So over the Easter weekend, worship at church was fantastic. One of the themes of course was new life. I don’t quite remember which song and verse mentioned it, but the phrase, “new life” came up. This got me thinking about heaven. I think that as a culture the concept of getting a “do-over” in life is intriguing. People regularly...

And you get some grace, and he gets some grace, and she gets some grace!

I wonder why it is so hard to pass God’s grace on to the people around me.  If someone came and handed me a million dollars and said, “I promise you that there is another million dollars in a bank account somewhere.  Give this million away.”  I would have absolutely no problem giving the money away.  I would give it to family and friends, I would give it to strangers,  I would give it to those who don’t deserve it, and I would give it to people that did deserve it. The Lord gives me opportunities every day to show grace to those around me.  Sometimes He gives me a lot of chances.  I know that I fail probably 99% of the time.  I am working on it, though. Anyone else find this to be an important struggle in their life?  What do you...

“As soon as you define God you limit God. Any image of God is a limitation, because if God is infinite then God is beyond your imagination because you cannot imagine the infinite. You cannot imagine a universe that has no beginning in time, a universe that has no limits in space. God is ineffable (incapable of being expressed in words), It’s the greatest mystery in the existence. For you to define God to give him these simple qualities is to actually limit God. God is beyond good and evil. God is transcendent.” - Deepak Chopra - Nightline Face-Off Does Satan Exist Or in this post video 8 of 10 at about the 9:40 mark I found this reply absolutely amazing. I guess I can see some of his point in that I don’t think that we as humans can truly...
