The new year and a new direction
So when the new year rolls around, it is always a good time for reflection. For myself, I am really hoping that this next year is a great time of rediscovery of God’s truth in my life. I am planning on being mentored / led personally for one of the first times and it is exciting. I have always been the pastor’s kid / person who knew the Bible so therefore it has been assumed that I knew how “God worked”. But more and more, I find that I am like Nicodemus who though a Pharisee and leader in the community, still approached Christ with all kinds of questions and willingness to believe. It does scare me a bit that I feel I resemble a Pharisee Bible character for 2 reasons. First, I am in no way as knowledgable of the scriptures as they would have been (stupid pride) and second, Christ had some rough stuff to say about them ole pharisees. But our great Lord still worked with Nicodemus and I pray that he isn’t done with me yet either.
For another good way to start / continue the new year, everyone should sign up for the email or daily read slice of infinity. It is fantastically written and has served as a great blessing to me this past year.
It is time to shine in 09 (well that is at least what the wives say before / after losing more at spades).
